In this video, the narrative technique of metafiction was discussed. I found the method of breaking the fourth wall between the characters and the reader extremely fascinating. I was surprised to know that these techniques are so common in popular culture. The video also discussed how metafiction can be used to mirror real life situations, in the example that was given of certain movies.
This video helped me understand metafiction and its applications in fictional works of art. It was interesting to find out the various instances of metafiction in popular movies and TV shows. This has enabled me to better identify and analyse this narrative technique in future fictional works that I read, watch or view.
