  1. The reluctant fundamentalist is a great book to do an IOP on. The book offers a wide horizon of life post 9/11 and an insight into the life of Changez. I am doing my IOP on this book and it is really interesting to discover the huge variety of aspects you can discuss. I strongly recommend this book.

  2. Mohsin Hamid's 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' is a unique book I enjoyed reading and exploring due to extremely interesting plot it contains. Hamid makes the readers sit at a table across the narrator; a man named Changez, who takes us through his life as a Pakistani living abroad. We take the persona of an American spy who barely does anything but listen to Changez recall his entire life and the things he went through as a foreigner. In my view, Mohsin Hamid does extremely well to keep us interested in a long life history of a man by making us wanting to know not only what happened next in Changez's life, but what happens next in the present in relation to the supposed American spy in Lahore. The readers experience two stories at once, and are kept in suspense due to repetitive references to the American supposedly being an agent on a mission. It is for this reason that I found the book enjoyable as Mohsin Hamid kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
