WAITING FOR GODOT
The video gives us a profound insight into not only aspects of Beckett’s literary work, but also his personal life. The description of his play “Waiting For Godot” as a “tragicomedy” is eerily accurate, given that the play really does tackle some of humanity’s greatest conflicts and existential questions with a relatively sardonic sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteBeckett's personal life and its influences on his writing is so fascinating to learn from this video. I found the idea of him ending his career as a lecturer due to him being 'unable to teach what he did not know himself' a strong depiction of his unpretentiousness manner that shone through in his writing.
ReplyDeleteThis video explores the key events in Samuel Beckett's life and his journey in becoming a renowned playwright and novelist. I particularly liked the concept of his famously "bleak view of life" and how that is completely reflected in the characterisation in Waiting for Godot. Also, the fact that there is a "shape to his chaos" suggests our goal of understanding the larger reality and our place in it.
