Big Think Interview With Yann Martel - Life of Pi and other books - Allegory
This is an excellent interview. However, it requires concentration and perhaps ideally taking some notes on his ideas. I have listened to it as an audio experience three times now and I have learned so much about his ideas on literature, art and history. He explores the comparative approaches of different art forms to difficult historical issues including the holocaust. His ideas about the novel and drama and the contrast between the written word and the spoken word 'oralty', (dramatic performance in theatre) are interesting and thought provoking. I think this is a good example of where great ideas (even if they are not always persuasive) inhabit that space where TOK and Literature meets - how do we know what we know and how can learn more using different ways of knowing.
