INFLUENCE OF GANDHI ON Martin Luther King.

The music is a little distracting but the images are powerful. We hear MLK in his own words acknowledge the influence of Gandhi's life and teachings on MLK and the policy of non-violence in the struggle of African-Americans for equal treatment, justice before the law and an end to segregation and discrimination especially in the Southern States in the 1950s and 1960s. Both these great men were murdered by men of violence. MLK was assassinated in April 1968. However the Civil Rights Movement was successful in changing the laws of the southern states. It is up to each individual person, especially IB students and teachers to be responsible for his or her attitudes to racism and prejudice of any kind based on race, colour or creed.
