  1. I'd potentially like to explore something like "How does Roy employ language to convey the oppression of the subaltern in The God Of Small Things?" or "How does Roy use language to effectively portray the characters in her novel?".
My topic would be likely to have two specific strongholds- language and elements of post-colonial theory or oppression.

  5. Avanti Sheth - The God of Small Things (CREATIVE)

I don't have a specific question yet, but I would like to explore the political situation in the novel. More specifically, how Sophie Mol is half Indian and half British, showing a sort of unification of identities. When Sophie dies, this unification dies with her and unleashes chaos in the novel (Velutha's death).

I would like to present this as the spirit/ghost of Sophie Mol (maybe an extra chapter).
