I think this video really encapsulates the important symbols in The Road and provides an exceptional explanation for the symbols. While McCarthy plunges us into a dystopian world that is plagued with destruction and disaster, he also very effectively shows us hope and goodness in the boy and by the "fire." This is further emphasised by the explanations in this video.
