Oral topics must be posted here before Wednesday evening

Well done everyone who has commented!

I will be in Room 9 tomorrow Tuesday if you need to see me  during lunch break.
You can also talk to me in class or after school Tuesday and Wednesday.
You can also email me during the holiday to fine tune your topic.
I will also post some tips on blog during the hols so keep in touch!
GOOD NEWS:
When we return to school after Diwali, you will have 2 weeks to fine tune your presentation. You will have 10 school days and a weekend in between. During that two weeks I will be available to advise you on the criteria and the types of activities. Point you in the right direction, so to speak and tell you bluntly if your heading in the wrong direction.
I cannot be your 'partner' in writing or devising the details of the Oral, that is not my role.

Orals begin on  TUESDAY NOVEMBER 28TH

  4. Hi Parth - just for your consideration -

Does Steinbeck's use of realistic dialogue among the characters contribute to the impact of the novel?
Think about this and let me know tomorrow.
    Thakns.

    Dear Mr. C,
I plan on doing the presentation with Pranav Vakharia. Our topic will be -characters through dialogue in 'Of Mice And Men', which basically means how Steinbeck describes his characters solely through their dialogues.

  6. interesting but seems very similar to Parth's topic? still we may be able to work something on this next week.....

  7. sir i don't have a 'title' yet but my topic is essentially:

If Gregor did in fact just have a mental breakdown and didn't turn into a pest then what his family did was indirectly murder him, by the way they treated him. using the text as 'evidence' i want to create a courtroom scene where one lawyer is trying to prove gregor was human (ie his parents are guilty of murder) and the other trying to prove he did transform into a pest.

  10. good choice for you Aamir and Rujiv too, let's talk next week and see if we can fine tune your title to make it more literary, same idea but perhaps more elegant phrasing? but the idea itself is fine, don't change that :)

sir, if my topic actually does turn out to overlap with Parth's then my back up plan would mostly be to do "literary devices used by Kafka" but i'm yet not a 100% sure about the topic.

  20. Dear Mr. C
i haven't fine tuned my topic yet, but it is basically the manifestation of different kinds of friendships on the farm in Of Mice and Men and and how each person is only friends with the next to serve a particular purpose. And how George and Lenny are the only true friends in the entire story.

My title is going to be: In through the out door
I'm going to be discussing the role of women in society in Persepolis.

Also, I am considering comparing the role of women in society in Persepolis to that of the one woman in Of Mice and Men, but I'm not too sure about that yet.

  34. Respected Mr C
I have two to three topics but based on Metamorphosis only
    1. being that i wanted to describe Greg's psychology and relating to teenagers and giving examples and much more in depth.
    2. i wanted to explain the title of the book as to why Kafka used it and how metamorphosis is mental and physical and give instances.
i will definitely think of more topics.
    i also had a query-
    Can we use props?

    Thank you

  52. Dear Mr. C
I have zeroed in on Persepolis as the book of my choice.
1)The topic I was interested in, is the idea of survival in the graphic novel; basically in Marjane's life. She has to survive the revolts, wars, gender discrimination, etc. basically every major event is incorporated into surviving or not.

2)Another topic could be Differences which then brings into consideration both class differences and male-female dominance.

I apologize if my choices sound a little raw.

    Sincerely
    Kaniel Kalarikkal

  57. Hey Mr. C,
I would like to do Metamorphosis for my IOP, and the topic I thought of was 'How apt the title is to the text'. I can bring out Gregor's mental frame of mind and show the change he undergo's, mentally and also physically to a certain extent. Also, whether he was actually a cockroach or not could be debated about. And I would incorporate a lot of evidence from the text.

    Thank you,
